No matter what package you choose, each WebBoss package comes with a fully integrated blog.
Why? Because it's highly recommend you have a blog for your business no matter how little, large or serious your business is. If you think a blog just doesn't suit your type of business, perhaps you might want to think again. Expert advice on and from your profession is great for your visitors and customers. From style advice for your clothing brand to tips and tricks for your new tech product- or even just news, updates, promo codes and offers from your company, it's almost guaranteed there will be something you can blog about.
In my opinion, blogging is probably the most fun part of digital marketing. It's a chance to be expressive about your passion whilst simultaneously promoting your business as honestly as possible.
So let's get to it! Here's some of the many great features you can make the most of in your blog:
Writing is obviously the main content that makes up a blog. But part of the content that will catch peoples eyes is good quality imagery. You can include an image in your blog header or use it as the sharing image when you share the blog on Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and other networks. Simply upload an image to your site in File Upload, then select the image from the drop down menu next to Blog Image!
Make sure to use good quality images and that you have permission to use them if they weren't created by yourself! No Photoshop? No problem. Check out some of the features included in the Image Editor, including some pretty nice Instagram-esque filters! There are also 100% free images to use on websites like Unsplash if you don't have any of your own.
There could be a variety of things you write about on your blog. So to make it easy for your site visitor to find your different articles, include a list of categories in the side bar. This will enable your visitors to click on the category and a list of blogs related to that category will list beneath it.
Then they can filter through to a particular blog they want to read. You can do this as you're editing your blog by selecting a category or creating a new one at the top of the page:
Social Media Plugins
If you're on social media (and as a business it's definitely worth considering) then you can have all your links via nice little social media icons linking to each of your accounts by using the Social Module. Like this example here in the top right of this screenshot:
They even come with nice little animations too! The Social media plugins allow you to include feeds from Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and more. Below is an example of the Instagram feed plugin using the Writers Block theme in the handy sidebar on the right included in the extra options of your template design. You can also include Soundcloud embedding so visitors can listen to a track at the click of a button.
Similar Articles & linking
Let's say your reader finishes reading your blog- but they now want to know more. You can link your readers back to similar articles on your blog like this. In the text editor, simply highlight a piece of text, click the chain icon and insert the URL. Also, your WebBoss blog comes with the option to suggest a couple of blogs similar to the one the reader has just finished reading. You can include this by going to your Blog module, clicking on Edit Blog Layout and selecting Related Articles/posts.
Don't be scared by these words, they're not as complicated as you think. There's a lot of other types of keywords to be aware of and where to use them, but for the sake of this blog I'll go into the a few you would use writing a blog:
Internal Keywords: These are the words you add in the text box at the bottom of your page or blog that will then be included in your sidebar on your website. the words are clickable, making it easy for users to find content on your website containing or relating to that particular word. It's also worth mentioning that keywords are picked up via your page/blog title name and your permalink, so bear that in mind when thinking about what words you want to be found/associated with!
Meta Description: This is the snippet of writing that gets shown in the results provided by a search engine such as Google. This won't directly effect your ranking in search results, but it can help to make your site stand out and seem more relevant to the searcher within the results provided.
Meta Keywords Tag : There's a section you can include all your keywords at the top of a page you're editing. Again, these are the words you want to be found with but they must be relevant to the content. Don't spam words that are irrelevant but that you think will improve your chances of getting found, because it will just be viewed as spam and untrustworthy.
